PROJECT FOUR: NHS Trust Team Event Programme
A programme example of a NHS Trust Team Event Programme.

A) Ground Rules and Guidelines for the afternoon and during the collaborative working away day

Agreements and Decisions
Participants set out their commitments and aspirations for the away day and agree on a team protocol in relation to communication with and between members of the team and between the team and the “other side”.

Rights, Responsibilities, Expectations and Obligations
In pairs discuss the inputs and outcomes you think are necessary, desirable and “off limits” in relation to each of the four categories above. What rights, responsibilities and obligations do you have jointly and severally to maintain a Group position on any particular element of the process.

Please prepare feedback on how you think you each want to act this afternoon and your ideas about how the rest of the group would want you to conduct yourself in the wider meetings.

B) Areas you know will have to be discussed
• Do you have a coherent position on them?
• Where do you agree?
• Where do you disagree?
• Negotiate in group and agree how to manage the differences in:
Private Analysis, Public Action, Do you have to agree about everything?

C) Managing surprises on the day
• What might they be?
• Where are they most likely to come from?
• What’s the most outrageous thing the other team could say?
• How might the team conspire to make a mess of the day?
• Who in the team should take responsibility for taking action to begin any repair process on the day?
• How does each of you want to play a part in that process?

D) The Bigger Picture
• Who are the other important stakeholders?
• How might they want you to act?
• Can you meet their expectations?
• What process would you need to invoke to allow for this?
• Are there ways of finding out their wishes before you start?
