PHILLIDA MILES
Phillida holds a degree in psychology and a diploma in Social worker (CQSW). Before becoming a consultant Phillida worked for the N.H.S and Social Services for over fifteen years. This was in a wide range of social and health care settings. As well as having extensive experience as a social work practitioner, she has also supervised and managed teams of staff. Within these roles, Phillida was instrumental in developing services, creating new and innovative policies/procedures, bringing new teams together and re-engineering services. She also designed, organised and ran many training, team and business development events for basic grade and senior staff.
Phillida has worked as a consultant and trainer for the last 7 years. She has taken on a range of commissions including consultancy linked to organisational change, project management, service reviews and consultation processes and has an established reputation for delivering consistently high quality interventions. As an example of her work, three London boroughs have used her expertise in ‘Fair access to Care Services’ to implement this policy, design and manage consultation across all stake holders groups, train practitioners and managers, project manage raising the eligibility threshold and manage a review team.
Phillida continues to design and deliver a regular programme of training courses across children’s and adult’s social care. These cover aspects of professional practice such as safeguarding, attachment theory and outcome based assessment and care planning.
Phillida also creates and facilitates team and business development events. Clients have included a Local Authority legal service, a Local Authority environment directorate, a diabetic unit and a charity for the visually impaired.
Across all of her commissions, Phillida’s solution focused approach; her skills in ‘engaging’ with people and her ability to operate at all levels of a service have proved to be an asset in achieving positives outcomes.
